Camping Ministries

Children meet Jesus at camp. Youth make life-long friends and deepen their spiritual lives at retreats. Adults come for spiritual enrichment in the midst of God's creation. Mississippi's United Methodist camps and retreat centers are places where good news continues to be proclaimed, lives continue to be changed, disciples continue to be formed and the world continues to be blessed.

Camp Lake Stephens near Oxford has welcomed campers of all ages to the piney woods of north Mississippi for more than 60 years. Thanks to the “CAMPaign” fundraising effort, the camp features 24 cabins, a worship center and other facilities. For those willing to “step out on a limb,” Lake Stephens also offers high and low ropes courses.

Camp Wesley Pines, located in Gallman, has provided opportunities for quiet reflection, spiritual growth and meaningful fellowship on its 266-acre campus since 1961. Wesley Pines is more than a camp-- it is also a conference and retreat center. The Durr Wise Center has a meeting hall, kitchen and accommodations for up to 96. The smaller Rodney Smith Retreat Center can host a variety of events. Wesley Pines is open year-round. Its facilities also include a one-mile prayer trail, rappelling tower and swimming pool.

Seashore Assembly Conference and Retreat Center in Biloxi is set on 12 acres of historic wooded property looking out over the Gulf of Mexico. The Seashore United Methodist Assembly (SUMA) offers a variety of opportunities for group gatherings and special meetings. For housing, we have Frazer Hall, a motel style building with private rooms and suites. We also have eight dorm rooms with eight bunk beds in each dorm. The dorms can hold 128 people. Meals can be provided and served in our campus dining hall. The dining hall can accommodate up to 106 people.

Gulfside Assembly, the historic retreat center in Waveland, was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Gulfside is associated with the Southeastern Jurisdiction of The United Methodist Church.

Treat yourself to a beautiful beachfront retreat center and calm the stress in your daily life.
